American Society for Public Administration, Los Angeles Metropolitan Chapter, Annual Awards and Installation Dinner, May 18, 2008  
  Congratulations   

  Lu Takeuchi, Department of Human Resources, County of Los Angeles was the 2008 Recipient of the Will Baughman Chapter Developmemnt Award.

The Los Angeles County Asian American Employees Association (LACAAEA) Board members and former board members attended American Society for Public Administration (ASPA), Los Angeles Metropolitan Chapter Annual Awards and Installation Reception on May 16, 2008 at Kyoto Grand Hotel and Gardens, Los Angeles, California.

      On May 16, 2008, the 60th American Society for Public Administration (ASPA), Los Angeles Metropolitan Chapter’s Annual Awards Dinner was held at the Kyoto Grand Hotel and Gardens, located in Little Tokyo, Los Angeles, California. Most of those in attendance were public sector practitioners from local, State, or Federal governments, and academia (public administration/public policy students, instructors, etc.).

Reginald Byron Jones-Sawyer, ASPA Los Angeles Metropolitan Chapter President, delivered the event's opening remarks. This was followed by the introduction of various speakers who spoke of the awards being presented and of the recipients' accommplishments. For example, Lu Takeuchi, Los Angeles County Department of Human Resources, was the recipient of the 2008 Will Baughman Chapter Development Award.

The Master of Ceremonies for the evening's Awards and Installation Dinner was William T Fujioka, Chief Executive Officer for the County of Los Angeles. He was humorous, entertaining and brought much laughter and perspective to the audience. He helped to keep this memorable evening event lively. He mentioned that "public servants must do their best to serve the people because they touch many lives from all walks of life".

New boards were elected at the end of the event. Carl Alameda, ASPA, Los Angeles Metro Chapter President Elect, gave the closing remarks and received a standing ovation.
