Bruce Allen Chernof, MD, FACP, currently serves
as the Director and Chief Medical Officer
for the Los Angeles County Department of
Health Services, after serving as the
Department’s Senior Medical Director for
Clinical Affairs and Affiliations since
December 2004. Prior to his rejoining the
Los Angeles Department of Health Services,
Dr. Chernof served as Regional Medical
Director for California Health Programs at
Health Net, California's largest
network-model managed care plan. He earned
his medical degree from UCLA and completed
his undergraduate work at Harvard
University. Currently, Dr. Chernof is an
Adjunct Professor of Medicine at UCLA, and
serves as the Assistant Chair of the Medical
Leadership College. In 2002, the Geffen
School of Medicine at UCLA recognized Dr.
Chernof with the Award for Excellence in
Education for these innovative programs.

As Executive Officer, Sachi A. Hamai oversees the operations of the
Executive
Office, which supports the Board of Supervisors in performing its duties as the
governing body of the largest local government in the Nation. The staff of the
Executive Office prepares the Board's weekly Agenda and Statement of
Proceedings, maintains its official records which date back to the 1850's, and
provides technology, accounting, procurement, personnel, payroll, facility
management and other administrative services to the Board of Supervisors. The
Executive Office also provides a wide variety of services directly to the public
and other County departments. This includes staffing various County commissions,
committees and task forces, and administering the Assessment Appeals Board and
Lobbyist Ordinance programs.
