Michael A. Gin is currently serving on his 2nd Term as the 28th Mayor of the City of Redondo Beach. Since May 2003, Mike has served as a field deputy for Los Angeles Supervisor Don Knabe representing the communities of San Pedro, Wilmington, Harbor City, Westfield, Academy Hill, and the cities of Palos Verdes Estates, Rancho Palos Verdes, Rolling Hills, and Rolling Hills Estates.
As Mayor, he currently serves as a Vice Chair of the Santa Monica Bay Restoration Commission, Honorary Chair of the Redondo Beach Sister Cities Committee, Delegate to the Los Angeles County City Selection Committee, and is a member of the Board of Directors for the District 5 and South Bay Cities Boards of the Los Angeles County Sanitation Districts.
In 1999, Mike was one of seven Chinese-American municipal elected officials in LA County honored with CAUSE's (Chinese Americans United for Self-Empowerment) "Citizen of the Year" award for contributions and service to the LA Chinese-American community. Also in the same year, Mike was selected as one of fourteen elected officials from across the country selected to participate in the Elected Officials Leadership Academy sponsored by the Asian Pacific Institute for Congressional Studies (APAICS) in Washington, DC.
In 1993, he was honored by the Redondo Beach Jaycees and the Redondo Beach Chamber of Commerce as "Young Man of the Year" for his dedication and years of service to the Redondo Beach community.
Mike enjoys traveling, snow skiing, working out, and playing the piano.
