Sheila Shima currently serves as one of five Deputy Chief Executive Officers (DCEO) for the Chief Executive Office. She leads the Health and Mental Health Cluster, which includes the Departments of Health Services, Mental Health and Public Health. In this position, Ms. Shima oversees and evaluates departmental budgets and operational activities, and assists the Chief Executive Officer in directing, administering, coordinating and evaluating Countywide operations and activities and client-based services and programs. In collaboration with the County Departments, Ms. Shima develops finance and budget recommendations, reports and strategies for submission to the Chief Executive Officer and the Board of Supervisors.
Prior to her appointment to the DCEO position, Ms. Shima served as the Chief Deputy Director, Department of Mental Health. During her 21 years with the County, she has served in various positions dealing with health and human services policies, budgets and operational issues. Ms. Shima earned her B.A. in Psychology from UCLA and her M.A. in Psychology from California State University, Los Angeles.
