The LACAAEA hosts annual events in which members can participate and network with fellow County employees and guests. All members and guests are encouraged to attend these events. 2014 Asian Pacific American Heritage Day
Suzie Suh, co-anchor for KCAL9’s weeknight 8 p.m. and 10 p.m., gave us the honor to be an emcee, along side with the President of LACAAEA, Jackie Guevarra. Among honored guests were the Los Angeles County Chief Executive Officer (William T Fujioka), DPSS Director Sheryl Spiller, Supervisor Zev Yaroslavsky, 3rd District, Miss Los Angeles Chinatown, Queen and Miss Photogenic Katrina Lee and Miss Friendship Becky Lam. LACAAEA presented the Outstanding Individual Service Award to Allan Pineda Lindo (aka apl.de.ap), Formerly with the Black Eyed Peas, and Service Awards to Miss Los Angeles Chinatown. The Asian Pacific American Heritage Day on May 14, 2014 was celebrated at the Kenneth Hahn Hall of Administration with hundreds of attendees, including participants from various organizations in LA county and general audience. The month of May was designated as “Asian Pacific American Heritage Month” by President George H. W. Bush in 1990.
